Aunt D and The Boys

August 22, 2017

Three close friends, who while also playing kick down the doors electric style projects, take their love of acoustic music and instruments to a different place, featuring the bluesy voice of Ms. D Alfano, on top of the buttery smooth playing of Mr. Riley Schiro on acoustic guitar, and steel man Dave Hayes playing a resonator guitar, (commonly known as a Dobro) which he fondly calls the “Resophonator”, along with some acoustic 6 string. They play a mix of original tunes mixed with some surprising cover choices.

Denise Alfano – Lead singer with Country Band,  “Country Mile”, and a powerful blues project as yet to be named,  has been singing  all her life, and performing on the local circuit for the past couple years. She met Dave Hayes when he joined her to play pedal steel guitar in Country Mile.  Ms. Megan O'Shea (on air personality at 90.5 The Night, and Thunder 106 radio stations),  introduced Riley Schiro to Denise (Megan's Aunt "D", hence the trio name "Aunt D and The Boys"), who in turn introduced Dave Hayes to Riley through the wonderful Tuesday night open mic sessions held at The Chubby Pickle right here in Highlands  NJ.

Riley Schiro- One of the best known and best loved guitar players on the Jersey Shore, Riley Schiro takes his acoustic style to another wonderful place, coupling it with Dave Hayes’ “Resophonator” guitar, to provide a rich and beautiful landscape for the haunting  lyrics and melodies provided by Ms. Alfano.  Riley is well known as the lead guitarist for the Cranston Dean Band.

Dave Hayes – Pedal steel guitarist with Ms. Alfano in Country Mile, also plays pedal steel in the Cranston Dean Band.  The "Aunt D and the Boys" acoustic trio gives Dave a chance to sing some, and play his acoustic guitar as well as the "Resophonator" (Dobro) guitar.
